Senior Quantity Surveyor/Associate (Glasgow and Kilmarnock)

As a result of continued success and growth and an expanding workload and client base, we are looking to recruit a self-motivated Quantity Surveyors with relevant experience at Senior QS or Associate level within both our Glasgow office and Kilmarnock office.

This is an excellent opportunity to become an integral part of an established practice at management level.

We provide a number of services across most sectors and there is an opportunity to become involved in Cost Management, Traditional Quantity Surveying, Employers Agent, Project Management, CDM services, specialist M&E measurement, billing and costing, procurement and dispute resolution.

Projects include a variety of refurbishment and new build within a wide range of sectors, including Higher and Further Education, Local Authority, Residential, Social Housing, Private Houses, Hotel and Leisure, Commercial Developments, Retail, Community projects and Restoration/Conservation.

The successful candidate should ideally:

  • have relevant experience within private practice
  • have strong understanding and practical experience of both Pre-Contract and Post-Contract work
  • have a working knowledge of main contract forms
  • have strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable in a client facing role
  • be able to manage and deliver projects with minimum of supervision
  • be either chartered or currently working towards chartered status
  • be ambitious with career and business development aspirations
  • be able to work as part of a larger team as well as manage and lead a team of Quantity Surveyors

Quantity Surveyor (Glasgow and Kilmarnock)

The position would suit a candidate who has their BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying and is working towards MRICS chartered status or has recently become chartered and are looking to take their career to the next step and broaden their experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to further develop their career and be trained and supported through our proven RICS approved structured training plan. Applicants should hold excellent people and IT skills and be driven to work as part of our existing team. Ideally candidates should have a minimum of five years relevant experience of working within a private Quantity Surveying practice.

Health and Safety Professional / Principal Designer / CDM advisor (Glasgow or Kilmarnock)

Armour Construction Consultants are looking for a construction health and safety professional to undertake the role of principal designer/CDM advisor. The role will be based in either our Kilmarnock or Glasgow offices.

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Ensuring compliance with the responsibilities of the principal designer, informing and assisting clients in discharging their duties at each stage of the process under the CDM 2015 Regulations, including ensuring suitable management arrangements are in place throughout the project
  • Establishing a record of principles and decisions taken in relation to health and safety from design inception, then monitoring and reporting to completion
  • Receiving strategic briefs, advising on the development of the project brief and ensuring appropriate notification to HSE of project particulars
  • Visiting sites and carrying out an initial appraisal to establish existing hazards and site restrictions
  • Advising and assisting clients in the appointment of designers and contractors; reviewing H&S implications of procurement methods in respect of CDM 2015 Regulations
  • Carrying out design reviews with team members and co-ordinating health and safety matters
  • Ensuring that designers have considered and established safe methods for construction of unusual or complex designs, including this as part of the pre-construction information
  • Compiling and issuing pre-construction information both to the design team and the principal contractor
  • Reviewing and commenting on principal contractor’s construction phase plans on behalf of the client and advising when these are considered developed sufficiently for work to start on site
  • Compiling health and safety files during the project and handing over to the client on completion
  • Representing the company in a professional and diligent manner with our client and their appointed designers and contractors, to form strong working relationships

Qualifications:

  • Recognised professional qualification in construction health and safety, eg NEBOSH diploma, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, etc
  • Certified or incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (CMaPS/IMaPS)
  • Substantial experience delivering CDM co-ordinator/principal designer services (as defined in the CDM 2015 Regulations) to a range of sector clients
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Clean driving licence
  • Good technical writing and communication skills and client-facing experience
  • Well-organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined and commercially astute
